America is known as the “Land of the Free Because of the Brave.” On Veterans Day, we celebrate our freedom and honor the brave men and women in uniform who have served our country to keep us safe and free. This year, we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the United States of America and the home of the mightiest fighting force and benevolent peacekeepers in history. Honoring Our Veterans
Join us in downtown Dunedin at John R. Lawrence Pioneer Park on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. for a patriotic and musical tribute recognizing the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The ceremony promises to be a moving celebration of service and sacrifice. Ceremony Highlights
Together we will share a good, old-fashioned Veterans Day filled with music, song and traditional military exercises. Our guest speaker, Lt. Col. Michael Douglas, U.S. Army, will share the pride and honor of service to our country. The Dunedin High School JROTC Rifle Drill Team will show off their skills. The Dunedin International Chorale will perform a patriotic medley. The Heavenly Hollies will recreate the World War II USO tour with their rendition of the Andrews Sisters’ “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” Come early because Soulfish will entertain before and after the event. Coffee and muffins will be served before the ceremony courtesy of Wild Iris Restaurant.
Numerous organizations that enrich the lives of our veterans will have tables set up to share their information. This is the biggest veterans-related event of the year, presented by SPC Zachary L. Shannon VFW Post 2550, American Legion Post 275, Military Order of Purple Hearts and the City of Dunedin. We hope to see you there.
