The City of Dunedin is launching a new tool to help residents take control of their water use and better understand their monthly utility bills. The EyeOnWater app is now available to Dunedin utility customers, providing real-time access to daily water usage from a smartphone, tablet or computer.

The free app works with the City’s smart water meter system and allows users to view hourly, daily and monthly water consumption. It also offers features such as leak detection, high-usage alerts and custom notifications, helping residents spot problems early and reduce waste.  About 90% of the City’s customers have already been switched to the cellular water meters, which means they can start using the app today. By the end of the year, all customers will have access.

The new initiative comes as the City prepares to adjust its water and sewer rates October 1. The rate change, approved in June under Ordinance 25-04, is part of a long-term plan to stabilize the City’s Utility Enterprise Fund and maintain reliable service through 2030.

Utilities and Engineering Director Clayton Watkins said the City wants to be transparent and proactive.

“Giving people tools to take control of their water bill is just as important as explaining why we have to raise rates in the first place,” Watkins said. “EyeOnWater helps us do both.”

The app supports the City’s broader efforts to promote water conservation. As new state mandates take effect and infrastructure costs rise, officials are encouraging residents to be mindful of their usage. EyeOnWater provides a simple, accessible way to do that.

Residents can sign up or download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. After linking their Dunedin utility account, users can begin tracking their water use immediately. Full setup instructions and FAQs are available on the City’s website
