Dunedin’s popular Rain Barrel Program is now open to new applicants. Residents who pre-register will be invited to attend a required Rain Barrel Workshop on Saturday, June 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the Dunedin Community Garden. Each participant will receive a free rain barrel, while supplies last.

The Rain Barrel Program is a sustainable initiative designed to help residents collect and reuse rainwater for outdoor uses like watering plants, washing garden tools or filling bird baths. Using a rain barrel helps reduce stormwater runoff, lower potable water use and even save on water bills.

What makes Dunedin’s program especially unique is its circular, zero-waste design. The barrels are repurposed from the City’s own Potable Water Treatment Plant, giving new life to materials that would otherwise be discarded. This not only reduces landfill waste but also supports the City's broader environmental goals.

Rain barrels are gravity-fed, require no electricity, and are easy to install and maintain. They connect directly to your downspout, making them a practical way for homeowners to manage water use and support sustainable living.

Space is limited and pre-registration is required to participate. Apply here: https://forms.office.com/g/APtGt1V914
