The excitement of summer is about embracing everything that feels free, fresh, and fun. From physical activity and outdoor adventures to relaxing moments and social events, summer brings joy, relaxation, and an opportunity to enjoy life in a carefree way.
The City of Dunedin offers a variety of summer camps through its Parks & Recreation Department. The 2026 "Camp Dunedin - Come Grow with Us" program runs from June 1 to August 7, providing full-day and half-day camps for children aged 4 to 17. You can register for all ten weeks or select individual weeks based on your schedule and interests. The camps include:
· All Day Camps: Pre-K Camp, Kids Camp, Tweens & Teens Camp
· Outdoor/Nature Camps: Hammock Wilderness Camp, Nature Camp, Hammock Camp Sampler (all the activities of a normal week of Hammock camp minus Family Night)
· Specialty Camps: Acting & Performance, Archery, Baseball, Basketball, Bricks 4 Kidz (LEGOs), Crafty Creations & Artsy Adventures, Cooking, Dance, Dynamic Dodgeball, Fishing, All-In Sports, Golf, Kayak, Multi-Sports, STEM, Soccer, Softball, and Tennis.
Registration has already begun, and open spots are filling fast. Incorporated again this year, online registration through the ePACT Network, a secure digital platform for managing essential participant information, including medical forms, waivers, consent forms, and health needs.
The excitement of summer doesn’t stop at just camps either, it comes from the freedom, fun, and fresh experiences it brings. It's a season that invites people to break away from routines, enjoy longer days, and embrace outdoor activities. Here are some things that can fuel the excitement of summer:
Make time for a getaway! Summer is the perfect season for vacations, whether it’s a family trip, a quick weekend escape, or a solo adventure. Exploring new destinations or unwinding in a favorite spot brings a sense of excitement and renewal.
Take in the nightlife, too. Warm summer evenings are ideal for stargazing, whether you’re stretched out on a blanket with friends or enjoying a peaceful night of camping under the stars.
And of course, summer wouldn’t be complete without fireworks. This year, the city is celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with a variety of events, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display at the Hometown USA Celebration at TD Ballpark.
