The City of Dunedin is bringing plenty of thrills, chills, and family fun this October with a packed lineup of seasonal events. From cozy outdoor movies to trick-or-treating downtown and spine-tingling scares at the Community Center, there’s something for everyone this Halloween season.
The fun begins with Movies in the Park every Friday in October (excluding October 31). Families are encouraged to bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets for a relaxed evening outdoors. Each week features a different family-friendly film shown on the big screen, making it a fun way to wind down after a busy week. Admission is free, and movies begin at dark.
The festive spirit continues with the annual Trick or Treat Spooktacular, from 5-8:00 p.m., as Downtown Dunedin comes alive with Halloween fun. Families can stroll through downtown, visiting participating merchants for sweet treats and spooky surprises. Beyond the candy, guests will enjoy carnival-style games, interactive crafts, and plenty of lively entertainment. A children’s costume contest and a family theme costume contest will begin at 5:30 PM in John R. Lawrence Pioneer Park. Be sure to check the City website for the schedule of age groups. Costumes and trick-or-treat bags are encouraged as families make memories together in a safe and festive environment.
But Halloween in Dunedin isn’t only about lighthearted fun. Those with a taste for fright won’t want to miss Monsters and Mayhem at the Dunedin Community Center. Taking place on Saturday, October 25, from 6–9 p.m., this immersive event is designed for those who crave a scarier experience. Guests can brave a twisted trail of terrors filled with eerie encounters, spine-chilling surprises, and plenty of haunted fun. Adding to the thrills, attendees can dance among the undead at a silent disco with bone-rattling beats. For those who work up an appetite, “macabre munchies” will be available to satisfy even the hungriest ghouls. With its spooky atmosphere and creative entertainment, Monsters and Mayhem are sure to deliver an unforgettable Halloween night.
Both the family-friendly and fright-filled events highlight what makes Dunedin special, its strong sense of community and commitment to creating inclusive experiences for residents and visitors alike. These events couldn’t happen without the support of volunteers and helping hands. From assisting with games and crafts to guiding guests through haunted attractions, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Volunteering is not only a chance to give back but also a way to become part of the magic that makes Dunedin’s fall season so memorable.
Whether you’re seeking a cozy movie night, a fun-filled trick-or-treat adventure, or a night of terrifying thrills, Dunedin’s October events promise entertainment for all ages and interests. Families, friends, and neighbors are encouraged to join in the festivities, dress up in their favorite costumes, and celebrate the season together.
