Beyond Books: Special Services at Dunedin Public Library
Published on August 13, 2025
The Dunedin Public Library offers much more than a place to browse shelves and check out books. From homebound delivery to Wi-Fi hotspots, museum passes, seed packets, and even passport services, there’s something for everyone.
Homebound Delivery
The Dunedin Public Library’s Homebound Delivery program is for Dunedin residents who are confined to their residence due to health and/or physical mobility issues. Lack of transportation can also qualify, but health and/or physical issues will receive priority. Deliveries can be ongoing or temporary, or even part-time for seasonal residents.
Participants receive deliveries one Wednesday morning per month. Participants are limited to the collection of the Dunedin Public Library. Material types available are:
Special Items
Did you know you can check out more than just books with your library card? Our special items collection includes:
-
Birding backpacks that include two pairs of binoculars, books, resources, and guides to help identify Florida wildlife. Backpacks can be checked out for two weeks and must be returned to the library.
Traveling Overseas?
The Library is now a passport acceptance facility and will accept and process your new passport applications. Bring your completed DS-11 form (unsigned), proof of citizenship, and ID, and we’ll help you apply and take your photo. Appointments are required.
Interlibrary Loan
If we don’t own something you’re looking for, bring the title and author to the Reference Desk with your library card and we’ll try to borrow it from another library, often at no cost. Copies of magazine articles are also available through this service.
Notary Service
The library offers notary services for simple documents at $5 per signature. Bring your unsigned documents and any required witnesses. Please call ahead to confirm a notary is available.
Digital Library (eResources)
Your library card gives you access to a world of digital resources:
-
The New York Times: Full digital access, including Games, Cooking, Wirecutter, and The Athletic
-
Plus research tools like A-to-Z Databases, Ancestry (in-library use), Gale, NewsBank, Florida Electronic Library, Fold3, and the Pinellas Memory Project
Volunteer Opportunities
Adult volunteers are accepted year-round, and teens can apply during designated enrollment periods. Applications are available online or at the library.
