The City of Dunedin will receive $4.7 million in appropriations funding as part of the 2026-27 state budget signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday, June 29.

The funding includes all three project requests made by the City:

  • $200,000 for a high-water vehicle for Dunedin Fire Rescue to ensure the safe rescue and transport of residents during flooding and other high-water emergencies.
  • $1.5 million for the Bayshore Water Main Project, which will replace a nonredundant, 100-year-old cast-iron water main beneath Bayshore Boulevard (Alt. U.S. 19/SR 595) from San Salvador Drive to Buena Vista Drive N. Replacing the aging infrastructure will reduce the risk of catastrophic failure and help ensure continued access to clean drinking water.
  • $3 million for the City's Marina Reconstruction Project. Under the appropriation, the funding may be used tomay be used to restore and renovate the City’s Marina damaged during the 2024 storms.

“These State budget appropriation funds help support un-funded essential projects like the high-water rescue vehicle,” said City Manager Jennifer Bramley. “While waiting on FEMA reimbursement for the hurricane damaged Marina, the $3 million appropriation positions the City to pursue resilient infrastructure, such as floating docks, which is not covered by FEMA.  These State appropriations are imminent and will allow us to move forward with these key projects.  We want to thank members of the local legislative delegation who sponsored the funding requests."

Legislative sponsors include State Sen. Ed Hooper, R-District 21, State Rep. Adam Anderson, R-District 57, and State Rep. Kim Berfield, R-District 58.

The state's 2026-27 fiscal year budget took effect July 1.
