City of Dunedin Transitions Website and Emails to a Secure .gov Domain
Published on March 26, 2025
In a move aimed at enhancing security and trust, the City of Dunedin is switching to a .gov domain for its official website and staff email addresses. Beginning April 1, 2025, this change will more clearly identify the website as an official government entity and provide increased protection for residents and other visitors.
“The switch to the .gov domain will increase the City’s security and searchability of our online presence,” said Michael Nagy, Director of Information Technology for the City of Dunedin. “It will assure the public that they are accessing an official U.S. government website and email address.”
The .gov domain is regulated by the federal government and limited to qualified government organizations and programs, providing stronger security and making it harder to impersonate official accounts.
Under this change, the City’s website will move from DunedinGov.com to www.Dunedin.gov. Visitors accessing the current website will be seamlessly redirected to the new domain, with no disruption in service or access to City resources.
Additionally, all City staff email addresses will update from @DunedinFL.net to @Dunedin.gov. To ensure a smooth transition, any emails sent to the old domain will automatically forward to the new addresses for one year following the change.
