Federal funding was delivered on Monday, March 30, to help rebuild the City of Dunedin's Dunedin Pier, which was destroyed in Hurricane Helene. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna presented a check for more than $800,000 to the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) and the City. The funds will reconstruct the portion of the pier used by PSTA’s Clearwater Ferry, creating a permanent dock for the service.

The Clearwater Ferry has made stops at the Pier since 2018, connecting the City with Clearwater Beach and Downtown Clearwater. After Hurricane Helene, the service came to a halt. In October 2025, service to Dunedin resumed with a small temporary dock, but the funding received on Monday, the City will once again see a permanent dock in the months ahead.

“After the devastation caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, rebuilding the Dunedin Pier is about more than infrastructure, its about restoring the heart of this community,” said Congresswoman Luna. “I was proud to help secure this funding to ensure Dunedin comes back stronger, safer, and ready to thrive again.”

The City has worked tirelessly since the storm to assemble funding from a range of sources to rebuild the pier. The funds presented by Congresswoman Luna will be coordinated with funding from FEMA, the State of Florida’s Disaster Fund, and the city’s general fund to bring the pier back to life. Construction is now underway.

“This $828,000 investment is a meaningful step in Dunedin’s recovery from Hurricanes Helene and Milton and ensures the Clearwater Ferry can continue serving our waterfront community,” said Rob Walker, City of Dunedin Vice Mayor and PSTA Board Member. “We want to thank Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna and her staff for securing this critical funding to ensure we are meeting the needs of our visitors and the residents of not only Dunedin, but Pinellas County as well.
