Hurricane Debris Collection Completed

FEMA contractors have been collecting storm debris from Helene and Milton throughout Dunedin since October 15. The final collection for hurricane debris was completed this week – well ahead of the 90-day deadline required for full reimbursement to the City by FEMA for the collection costs, estimated to be more than $4 million. More than 2,500 loads collected 115,765 cubic yards which is equivalent to 35.5 Olympic swimming pools or 18 football fields with three feet of debris.

Residents may resume placing vegetative debris out for removal on their weekly yard waste collection day. The yard waste debris must be bundled, neatly stacked, bagged or canned. Special collections fees will apply for loose piles over the City’s weekly set out limits. Contractors and homeowners conducting post storm renovations are responsible for their own disposal.
