The City of Dunedin currently offers residents and business owners within the City limits to receive a rebate for installing solar panels. This program aligns with the City's clean energy goals and sustainability commitments.

  • The City currently has a program where you can apply for a rebate for installing solar.
  • The grant is at a rate of $0.25 per watt of solar power generated for a maximum grant of $2,500.
  • Applicants must be a City of Dunedin resident or business (unincorporated addresses are not eligible).
  • Solar permits must be applied for, issued, inspected and completed on or after October 1 2018.
  • This grant will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis – as funds are available. Annual total funding determined in each fiscal year’s budget.

Rebate Application

Funding has been approved for this fiscal year. The Community Development Department’s permitting office will begin accepting applications for this program starting Wednesday, October 1, 2025. For questions about this program, please contact sustainability@dunedin.gov or call 727-298-3213.

Application Steps

  • Complete the top half of the Solar Energy Grant Form and complete the W-9
  • Email application and W-9 to permits@dunedin.gov OR drop off a physical copy of your application and W-9 at Community Development within City Hall (737 Louden Avenue, Dunedin from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

Switch Together Solar Program

The City of Dunedin and nonprofit Solar United Neighbors are partnering to bring you Switch Together, a group buying program for solar installations. Switch Together offers residents a hassle-free way to install reliable rooftop solar, battery storage, and EV charger add-ons, at a competitive price. The program is also supported by other local governments, though no government funds are used.

Step 1.Why Join?

  • Free to register: and no obligation to accept your offer.

  • Group discount: set pricing is negotiated through a competitive auction among qualified installers.

  • Additional savings: participants save an average of $X,XXX on a typical solar installation.

  • Fully refundable deposit: if you decide to move forward, a $150 deposit secures your offer and is fully refundable if you choose not to proceed at any time.

  • Learn before you decide: join free webinars or in-person information sessions to learn more about solar.

  • City of Dunedin is hosting an informational session on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Dunedin Public Library (223 Douglas Avenue) for those interested in learning more.

Step 2.How Does Switch Together Work?

  • Register: Sign up for free at www.SwitchTogether.com/Solar/Dunedin. You will not receive any sales calls, and your information will not be shared with third parties.
  • Auction: Vetted installers compete in a bidding process. The mot competitive bids for high-quality installations determine the final group discount.
  • Personal offer: Upon registering, you will receive a personal offer based on your registration details. This offer will include your estimated costs, group savings, and information about the selected installer for our neighborhood.
  • You decide: You have until July 8, 2026, to decide if you want to accept the offer. There is no obligation to accept.
  • Installation: If you accept, the winning contractor will contact you to schedule an initial consultation. If your home is found to be unsuitable for solar, the installation will be canceled, and your deposit will be refunded.
